Sailing home from Horta to the UK after the 2024 Jester Challenge, an important part of the boom hardware unexpectedly broke. At first I thought I would have to manage without a vang, but then had (for me!) a brilliant idea! Self reliance is a key to successful offshore sailing and I managed to figure out how to do a great repair. Plenty of frustration with too little wind, well, it makes a change from wondering if the boat will fall apart in the rough seas..
