Building a bow BOAT CRADLE and DOG WHEELCHAIR | Ep. 7

This video shows how we built the bow cradle for our boat to sit in. Having a cradle to sit the boat in, is important for sitting a big boat like ours out of the water properly. Without the cradle we needed so many props to support us plus our big draft makes it complicated as we are very high above the ground and it's difficult to find tall enough support. In the last episode we built a cradle for the stern of the boat, but despite being pleased with the outcome, we decided that the method was too time consuming and costly. This video shows the new method we came up with for the bow cradle build which is much more economical and efficient. He raced her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), coming 5th and becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water!
