31 - Cruising Raiatea and Tahaa

First up was a visit to Marae Taputapuatea in Opoa in Riatea. This is one of the largest and well preserved marae complexes in all of French Polynesia and was a fascinating way to learn more about Polynesian culture. Next up was a personalized guided tour up a river with our new friend James where we learned more about the island and picked up some fruit and coconuts. Our last stop on Raiatea took us up to Uturoa for some reprovisioning and a surprise run in with a spear fishing tournament. After Uturoa, we headed up to Tahaa. The main attraction was a coral garden which unfortunately turned out to be a bit disappointing, but at least the view from the air turned out to be well worth it!
