#24 She doesn't have a wet bottom! Awkward work on the underside of our steel yacht

The bottom of the boat wasn't wet so it was the ideal opportunity to get on with more work on the underside this week. We continue the awkward work of treating and painting the flakey areas and yet again discover things are not as bad as they appear. We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world. Well we've finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we're embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world.
