Wir erklimmen auf der Traverse Kirimoro den Kamm des parallel zur Bucht verlaufenden Höhenzuges. Am s.g. „Arc de Triomphe“ biegen wir links ab. Teilweise ist der Weg gut markiert, teilweise so überwuchert, dass er kaum zu erkennen ist. Unterwegs treffen wir zwei Waldarbeiter, die mit ihren Rasentrimmern, den Weg wieder freilegen. An einer besonders steilen Stelle versteige ich mich und kann nicht mehr zurück. Bergab schlage ich mich durch mannshoch umgestürzte Bäume und wucherndes Grün, in dem Gänge auf die Gegenwart der wilden Schweine hinweisen. Schließlich erreiche ich die fruchtbaren Anbauflächen und schlage mich zur Straße durch. Brigitta, die glücklicherweise schon bald den richtigen Weg gefunden hatte, hat sich riesen Sorgen gemacht und muss sich erst einmal wieder beruhigen. Zwischen der Insel Taravai und den kleineren Nachbarinseln befindet sich wohl die faszinierendste Korallenwelt, die ich je erleben durfte. Unmittelbar neben unseren ankernden Schiffen befinden sich ausgedehnte Korallenbänke, die bis kurz unter die Wasseroberfläche reichen. Als klassische Saumriffe haben sie sich in der Nähe der Inselküsten gebildet und ziehen sich ins tiefere Wasser. Ab einer gewissen Wassertiefe enden diese Saumriffe und bieten uns Seglern Sandfelder, in denen unsere Anker Halt finden. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen?
