► Ordinarily, new Leopard models are first presented in the United States, but this time, the Cannes Yachting Festival is charged with hosting the new Leopard 52, the replacement for the 50, for its first viewing by the public. This catamaran has been designed to satisfy both owners and charterers with layouts incorporating 3 to 6 cabins. The 52 retains the watertight forward door introduced in 2010 but features a fully open saloon and aft cockpit. Efforts have been made to optimize performance with a 17% increase in sail area compared to the 50 and a slightly lower weight (around 183 lbs/83 kg less). In terms of price, it’s a bit the opposite: €30,000 more compared to the price of the Leopard 50 at the end of 2024 – but then you do gain two feet! It will feature the Forever Green label in our upcoming Buyer’s Guide, as owners will benefit from integrated solar panels (1,600 Wp) on each boat, a lithium battery bank, and the Joool electric propulsion system already available on the Leopard 46. The manufacturer also offers a fully electric galley and equipment. After Cannes, the Leopard 52 will be presented for the first time in the United States at the Annapolis Boat Show in October. This new flagship will be available for charter and charter-management with The Moorings under the name Moorings 5200. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Robertson & Caine Architects: Simonis Voogd Design Length overall: 51’8” (15.75 m) Waterline length: 50’3” (15.31 m) Beam: 26’9” (8.16 m) Draft: 5’4” (1.62 m) Air draft: 81’1” (24.71 m) Light displacement: 45,232 lbs (20.52 t) Mainsail: 1,055/1,141 sq ft (98/106 m²) Genoa: 757 sq ft (70.3 m²) Engines: 2 x 57 HP Fuel: 237 US gal (900 l) Water: 185 US gal (700 l) ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! #SailboatTour #CaptainQ #Gozzard36 #BluewaterSailboat #SailboatReview Captain Q RETURNS! Rare Gozzard 36 Sailboat Tour | $160k Bluewater Cruiser We FOUND him. Captain Q — the legendary Yacht Hunter himself — has been resurrected with nothing more than a can of Dinty Moore beef stew and a splash of Freixenet bubbly! And wouldn’t you know it, he’s back on deck with us to review a sailboat that most sailors have never even heard of… the extraordinary Gozzard 36. This is not your typical sailboat. Ted Gozzard’s open plan interior blew up the rulebook by ditching the cookie-cutter 6-foot sections and “imagineering” a layout that’s functional, flexible, and refreshingly innovative. This is the BIGGEST 36-foot sailboat we've ever been on. Lazy Jacks, our featured Gozzard 36, shows why this Canadian-built cruiser has become a cult classic among serious passagemakers and liveaboard sailors. Highlights & Recent Work: ✅ Sleeps six across three cabins with the revolutionary open plan ✅ Major refit at the Gozzard yard (2013–14) plus ongoing upgrades through 2025 ✅ Fresh brightwork, rebuilt steering, new bimini, serviced rig, and a laundry list of replaced systems (fuel pump, hoses, windlass, batteries, macerator, you name it!) ✅ Powered by a well-maintained Westerbeke with updated tanks, wiring, and steering gear ✅ Outfitted with modern cruising gear: Garmin chartplotter w/HD radar, Vesper AIS, Raymarine autopilot, solar power, davits, dodger + bimini, and a Rocna anchor system that’ll keep you stuck to the bottom like a barnacle. Sail Inventory: – North mainsail (2022) + Doyle lazy jack system – Genoa, staysail, gennaker, plus original serviceable sails – All control lines led aft for easy handling This Gozzard 36 is more than just a sailboat — it’s a rare piece of yacht design history. A boat that turns heads, sparks conversations, and (with Captain Q’s blessing) might just change how you think about living aboard or heading offshore. She is a STUNNER! Here’s a quick wander through the 2025 Southampton Boat Show. We start by showing you where to find our new Fairline spot, tucked between the Princess and Bentley stands. 🧭 On the Fairline pontoon we rattle through the line-up: the fresh Targa 40 with its fold-down terraces, Targa 45 Open, another Targa 45 (GT), the Targa 50 with that smart black roof, and the elegant Squadron 58. Of course, there’s also Fairline Hospitality, a proper bar where you’ll probably find James! If you have been sent one of our giveaway corks - don't forget to bring it. 🍾 Then we skip over to Sea Ray to introduce Jake on the stand (be nice, it’s his first show!): you’ll see the Surf model, the 250, SPX 190, SPX 230, and a big-power twin-V8 Sea Ray that turns heads. We also swing by Parker (Explorer 790, 800 Cruiser, and the lovely Sorrento), check in with Williams Jet Tenders (from MiniJet up to the big SportJets), and finish at the new Kawasaki stand with UTVs, a new Sea Angler, bikes, the lot. Plenty to see, plenty of friendly faces (Joe, Jake, James, Dan, Darren) if you fancy a chat.
► We (finally) got the chance to go out on the famous Ultima 55, the powercat that turns heads on the pontoons with its ultra-trendy design. This new model, the first in the Ultima range, is characterized by a modest beam of 18’4” (5.6 m) and a very specific design that incorporates a steeply sloping and inverted front to the coachroof, an inverted deck sheer, and lastly, angled bows. Like all Sunreef models, the luxurious interiors can be customized on request. As for the outdoor living spaces, these offer a spacious cockpit, sunbathing areas, and a swimming platform. With the standard powertrain, we reached 36 knots and discovered a powercat that turns on the level, lifts efficiently on its foils - especially on flat seas. The Sunreef 55 Ultima is also designed to be available in an Eco version with hybrid propulsion and various high-performance solar panel options. At the close of the Cannes Yachting Festival, we had the opportunity to sail aboard Lagoon’s flagship, the Eighty 2. We had first discovered this large catamaran exclusively in Bordeaux, and it has proved to be lively under sail and economical under motor – 11.6 US gallons (44 liters)/hour at 2,000 rpm. The captain, with 2,000 nautical miles logged on his circumnavigation of the Iberian Peninsula, seemed very satisfied with his new vessel and especially with his quarters at the forward end of the port hull. Traffic flows smoothly thanks to the wide side-decks and the forward door in the nacelle. From the flybridge, the crew enjoys a 360° view of the water and can easily swap from one helm station to another. We would just like to see slightly deeper halyard bags and more secure access for working at the boom. In the starboard hull, we were able to test the famous opening side panel that acts as a terrace on the water in the Owner’s suite. Despite being proportionately narrower in beam than the Sixty, for example, the deck offers a flybridge of some 540 square feet (50 m²) that can be fitted out as desired, while aft, the platform connecting the sugarscoops covers 236 sq ft (22 m²)... Inside, you’ve got the choice of galley up or galley down. The Lagoon Eighty 2 will soon be available in a power version under the name of the Eighty 3 - hull #1 is already in build. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Lagoon Catamarans Architects: VPLP Design/Patrick Le Quément Interior design: Nauta Design Overall length: 81’11” (24.97 m) Hull length: 78’5” (23.91 m) Length at waterline: 78’3” (23.85 m) Beam: 36’1” (11 m) Draft: (1.9 m) Sail area: 3,683 sq ft (338 m²) Engines: 2 x 230 HP Fuel: 2 x 370 US Gal (2 x 1,400 l) Water: 2 x 211 US Gal (2 x 800 l) CE Certification: A14/B18/C24/D40 ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► McConaghy stole the show at Cannes with this first MC68 in a Flybridge version. Designed for making long passages in complete comfort with a crew, this model is capable of reaching double-digit averages, as evidenced by the numerous carbon elements incorporated into the construction and the deep daggerboards. At Port Canto, the MC68 set our mouths watering with its ultra-modern coachroof and its lines kept tight thanks to a continuous chine. You can see that the step in the deck - a McConaghy hallmark - is there, but it’s much more discreet than on the “smaller” models. Also noteworthy: the double front doors, access to the nacelle from the side-deck, and the twin helm stations set as far aft as possible on the flybridge. The luxurious interior of the MC68 that we tested offers three guest cabins and one crew cabin as standard, with a four or even five double cabin layout also available. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: McConaghy Architects: Ker Yacht Design Length: 67’11” (20.7 m) Beam: 30’2” (9.2 m) Draft: 4’7”/12’4” (1.4/3.75 m) Upwind sail area: 2,766 sq ft (257 m²) Water: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Fuel: 422 US gal (1,600 l) Engines: 2 x 80 HP ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► The FP44 will make a clean sweep of the range, eclipsing the Astrea 42 and Elba 45. This new model, presented by the builder as a particularly convivial cruising catamaran, puts the emphasis on relaxation areas - a 100- square foot (9.2 m²) forward sunlounger, a 115-sq ft (10.7 m²) lounge deck on the flybridge and an additional lounger in the cockpit. While the manufacturer has remained faithful to its dual helm/maneuvering station, a superb Tesla-style control screen is now available. Inside, the FP44 features wide forward openings, but notably sees the return of the island unit - this had deserted the nacelle of the Saona 47, which became the Tanna 47. The 44 was designed from the outset to be available in a hybrid-electric version. In this green spirit, this catamaran can be fitted with 2,300 Wp of solar panels. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Fountaine Pajot Architects: Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design Length overall: 43’6” (13.26 m) Beam: 24’5” (7.44 m) Draft: 4’6” (1.38 m) Displacement: 33,500lbs (15.2 t) Mainsail: 840 sq ft (78 m²) Genoa: 484 sq ft (45 m²) Motors: 2 x 30 or 2 x 57 HP or hybrid Fuel: 18 US gal (700 l) Water: 158.5 US gal (600 l) www.fountaine-pajot.com ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! This was a unique custom job of a classic 1977 Islander 32, a timeless cruising sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Robert Perry! This 32-foot sloop, built by Islander Yachts in Costa Mesa, California, is perfect for coastal cruising, weekend getaways, or even extended voyages. 📋 Specifications Year: 1977 Make/Model: Islander 32 Length Overall (LOA): 32 feet Beam: 11 feet Draft: 5.33 feet (standard fin keel) or 4 feet (shoal draft version) Hull Material: Solid fiberglass with plywood-cored deck Displacement: ~10,400 lbs Ballast: 4,100 lbs (lead) Engine: Various options from production run, including Volvo Penta 13 HP diesel, Westerbeke 25 HP diesel, or Universal Atomic 4 gas (30 HP). Some models, like one listed in Virginia, feature a 2004 Westerbeke 30B diesel. Fuel Capacity: ~25-30 gallons Water Capacity: ~40-50 gallons Sail Area: ~450-500 sq ft (standard rig); tall rig: I: 44.5', J: 13.75', P: 38.91', E: 11.2' Additional Features: This one was featured with a custom solar panel that would allow them to stay anchored and have power consistantly, new refrigeration (some models, e.g., 2016 upgrade), Monitor windvane self-steering, and Achilles 310 dinghy (in some listings). 🛋️ Spacious Layout The Islander 32 MK II offers a surprisingly roomy and practical interior for its size, ideal for couples or small families: Staterooms: Forward Cabin: V-berth sleeps two, with storage lockers and access to the head for privacy. Main Salon: Convertible settees around a central fold-down table, sleeping up to three additional guests. Features long portlights for natural light and teak cabinetry for a classic aesthetic. Galley: L-shaped with a 2-burner propane stove/oven, sink, and refrigeration (upgraded in some models). Ample counter space and storage for extended cruising. Head: Manual or electric head (e.g., new Wilcox Crittenden in some spares) with sink and storage, accessible from the forward cabin or salon. Navigation Station: Dedicated chart table with space for electronics, perfect for planning passages. Cockpit: Spacious and updated with pedestal steering, new cushions, and easy access to primaries, making it comfortable for sailing or socializing. 🌟 Benefits Proven Design: Robert Perry’s design offers a balanced blend of stability and performance, with a moderate displacement hull suitable for coastal cruising or offshore passages (one documented circumnavigation). Affordable Classic: Priced typically between $20,000 and $35,000 (based on listings, e.g., YachtWorld and SailboatListings), it’s a budget-friendly entry into cruising with strong resale value. Easy to Sail: With modern sail-handling gear and a sloop rig, it’s manageable for shorthanded crews or couples, enhanced by features like a Monitor windvane in some models. Spacious & Livable: Sleeps up to five comfortably, with thoughtful storage, ventilation, and a timeless teak interior that feels larger than its 32 feet. Durable Construction: Solid fiberglass hull and lead ballast ensure longevity, though check for past blister repairs or main bulkhead issues, common in some units. Upgraded Features: Many examples include recent upgrades like new standing rigging (e.g., replaced ~6 years ago in some listings), updated electronics, and fresh antifouling/barrier coats. Versatile Use: Perfect for bay sailing, trips to Catalina, or weekend liveaboard use, with a layout that supports both adventure and comfort. ⚠️ Maintenance Tips Blister Check: Inspect the hull for blistering, a known issue with some Islander 32s. Verify if a barrier coat was applied during past bottom jobs. Rigging & Mast: Check standing rigging (replace every 10-15 years) and inspect the mast step for corrosion, a common issue in 1970s Islanders. Engine Maintenance: Ensure regular servicing of the diesel engine (oil, filters, impeller) for reliability, especially for older Volvo or Westerbeke units. Bulkhead Inspection: Examine the main bulkhead below for water damage or delamination, as reported by some owners. Deck & Seams: Look for soft spots in the plywood-cored deck and reseal fittings to prevent leaks. 🚤 Why Choose the 1977 Islander 32 MK II? The 1977 Islander 32 MK II is a classic cruiser that delivers performance, comfort, and affordability in a compact package. Its robust construction, versatile sail plan, and spacious interior make it ideal for coastal adventures, weekend escapes, or even bluewater dreams. Priced between $20,000 and $35,000, it’s a fantastic value for sailors seeking a well-built, character-filled vessel with a proven track record. Whether you’re new to sailing or a seasoned mariner, this Islander is ready for your next journey!

► Here is the new flagship of the C-Cat range, only just out of shipyard at Fiumicino, near Rome, with a stunning gold livery. Italian shipyard Comar Yachts has set itself an ambitious goal with this all-carbon multihull. The C-Cat 65 will be taking on models that are already well-established in the sector of high performance, top of the range catamarans over 60 feet - Gunboat, HH, McConaghy, and O Yachts. It looks as though the project is being well carried out judging by the very attractive design - the two-tone coachroof and the design of the hatches are particularly successful. The sleek deck plan manages to combine maneuverability, with two helm stations at mid-height, ease of moving around on board, and relaxation. The nacelle benefits from a very wide opening onto the cockpit. In the hulls, the builder offers 3 to 5 cabins. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Comar Yachts Naval Architects: Enrico Contreas and Luigi Cirillo Design: Marco Amadio and Marco Rogolino Length: 64’8” (19.71 m) Beam: 30’2” (9.2 m) Draft: 5’4”/10’6” (1.62/3.2 m) Displacement: 40,785 lbs (18.5 t) Mainsail: 1,397 sq ft (130 m²) Genoa: 1,100 sq ft (102 m²) Solent: 645 sq ft (60 m²) Gennaker: 1,720 sq ft (160 m²) Engines: 2 x 80 HP Fuel capacity: 2 x 105 US gal (2 x 400 l) Water capacity: 2 x 105 US gal (2 x 400 l) ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► We discovered this sporty powercat at Miami back in February... For its European debut, the Aquila 42 is bringing something new to the table with a powerful 2 x 440 HP Volvo drivetrain. During our test in the Gulf of Fréjus in the South of France, we exceeded 40 knots. The standard foils are particularly effective between 20 and 30 knots, reducing fuel consumption while increasing sailing comfort. The IPS system makes handling incredibly easy and allows you to hold the powercat “fast”, which is very useful when mooring. On the water, with its compact silhouette, the 42 Coupe is positioned from the outset in the category of sports powercats. The design seeks to be rather modern and relatively discreet, but also in line with American standards: the bows retain a steep “conventional” slope. On board, you can count on spacious relaxation areas. In the nacelle, there's a lounge, a large galley and a well-protected two-seater interior helm station. Multiple openings, including a forward door and a sunroof, facilitate circulation and ventilation. Each hull features a double cabin (the one to port being slightly larger) with private bathroom. Note: the 42 Coupe is equipped with a foiling system that reduces fuel consumption while increasing comfort under way. ► Technical specifications: Builder: Aquila Power Catamarans Overall length: 42’3” (12.88 m) Beam: 15’11” (4.85 m) Draft: 3’3” (0.98 m) Air draft: 10’3” (3.13 m) Light displacement: 18,740 lbs (8.5 t) Engines: 2 x 440 HP inboards Fuel 410 US gal (1,552 l) CE Category: B 12, C20, D29 ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Full test in Multihulls World N°204. ► Just a few days ahead of the Cannes Yachting Festival, we got the chance of a wonderful trip aboard the Balance 580. With her relatively short nacelle and inverted, “broken” angle bows, this model incorporates all the brand’s visual codes but with, of course, much more comfort on deck and inside compared to the 502. Construction is in a silica and carbon fiber combo in the areas subject to heavy loads. The lamination is done by hand and under vacuum with a foam core and epoxy resin. The 580 #1 we tested showed no signs of wear following her 7,000-mile voyage from South Africa to France and demonstrated her tremendous speed potential—its displacement of less than 17 tons gives this catamaran agility and, above all, exhilarating speed, but without ever escaping the control of its crew. A smooth gliding sensation that invites you to cross the oceans without giving it a second thought. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Balance Catamarans Length overall: 58’4” (17.78 m) Waterline length: 58’4” (17.78 m) Beam: 28’3” (8.6 m) Draft: 5’5”/11’ (1.65/3.35 m) Air draft: 90’ (27.43 m) Light displacement: 36,750 lbs (16.67 t) Mainsail: 1,507 sq ft (140.9 m²) Self-tacking jib: 855 sq ft (79.5 m²) Gennaker: 1,353 sq ft (125.7 m²) Motors: 2 x 57 HP Fuel: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Water: 158 US gal (600 l) ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! ► Full test in Multihulls World N°204. ► The 3D images we’d received had given us a good idea that the Tortue 147 wasn’t really going to look like a standard multihull... In the end, we were in for quite a surprise at La Grande-Motte! The catamaran on display, an ode to slow living, boasts a truly unique design and layout, with a nacelle reminiscent of a turtle shell, large stained-glass portholes, a suspended chart table seat, and a cabin layout reminiscent of a small mountain chalet. The same surprising atmosphere reigns at the after end of the boat, where a modest suspended balcony serves as a cockpit. We’re obviously impressed by the diamond-shaped windows integrated into the floor of the nacelle, and we are hardly surprised by the presence of a beautiful plant, whose pot was designed during the construction process. The build was undertaken in Tunisia using semi-thick aluminum for optimal impact resistance. The hull has two specific features: a bulbous bow is grafted onto each side to dampen pitching, and the stern is particularly sleek. Here again, the architects’ aim was to provide the most stable platform possible, including longitudinally. Two 1,200-liter (317-gallon) ballast tanks are also provided aft. Long keels and rudder skegs allow you to take the ground. The conventional internal combustion engine has been supplemented by an electric propulsion system capable of propelling the Tortue over a distance of 12 nautical miles and providing efficient hydrogeneration when the catamaran is making way under sail. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Cataruga Material: 8 to 10 mm aluminum Length: 48’3” (14.7 m) Beam: 25’9” (7.85 m) Draft: 4’9” (1.45 m) Displacement: 37,500 lbs (17 t) Sail area: 1,076/1,507 sq ft (100/140 m²) Motors: 2 x 57 HP and 2 x 10 kW All-electric range: 2 hours at 6 knots ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!
