A 3 day tour of superyacht builders...in 10 minutes! My colleagues from Northrop and Johnson France and Spain joined me on a tour of some of Italy's most important shipyards this month. WIDER 165 Superyacht - Under Construction! The videos I have produced about the WIDER Superyachts have accrued hundreds of thousands of views. Not only are they very attractive looking yachts, but they also offer a high degree of technological innovation. With the WIDER 165 under construction and a delivery foreseen for next summer I thought an on-site progress report would be interesting for my viewers. The entire yacht was under cover both outside and inside, making filming somewhat of a challenge, but I was able to give a general overview of progress that is being made. Aston Martin have launched a Power Boat! The AM37!!! I could not believe my eyes at the Cannes Yachting Festival last week when I saw a finished Aston Martin AM37 on the water. This is far more than just a branding exercise by Aston Martin, they have been heavily involved with the design of this boat and commissioned Quintessence Yachts to build it in the UK, to a Mulder Design hull. How to build a custom super yacht. The super yacht industry is rich with a variety of vessels in all shapes and sizes. You should never judge a shipyard by the appearance of the yacht though - certainly not where custom yachts are concerned - since they are really more of a reflection of the designer than the builder. This video takes you through the basic steps of the conception, creation, and completion of a super yacht and the importance of putting together a good team of people. Hundred Million Dollar Mega Yachts I don't use the term "Mega Yacht" too easily, but when you take a look at these creations you will see why I had no problem applying the label. The largest yacht in the world currently is "Dilbar", at an astonishing 512' in length and nearly 16,000 GRT. Since she is not for sale though, I took some time to look at yachts that are for sale that are the largest...in the world!!! Sneak Peek of the WIDER 130 Super Yacht I have always had a soft spot for the WIDER Shipyard. They have shown inspiring levels of courage in pioneering the use of diesel electric propulsion on their yachts. The WIDER 150, now sold and delivered to her new owner, was quite simply one of the most beautiful and well executed yachts I have ever seen. The smaller model, for now known as the WIDER 130, is planned to be an entry level yacht.
