RMK Marine - SuperYachts, Warships and SuperTankers! Travelling the less travelled path sometimes reaps great rewards, as I found out on my recent trips to Turkey. There, I discovered an industrial giant with considerable pedigree in the construction and refit of a variety of different superyachts. Not only is RMK Marine part of the colossal RMK Group of companies, they have also demonstrated a significant presence overseas, working in close collaboration with Oyster yachts and buying the Merrill Stevens facility in Florida. This video scratches beneath the surface of this incredible company, and is the first in a series of three videos about RMK Marine.

Last week once again found me in Turkey, filming a series of vlogs about RMK Marine. While I was there I took the opportunity to visit the Mengi Yay shipyard, and I'm happy to report back on the progress they are making with the 44m "Virtus" designed by VYD. At the recent Versilia Yacht Show in Italy I stopped in my tracks when I saw ISA's latest launch; a 76' composite yacht that is quite different to anything else on the market. ISA have built their reputation on the construction of far larger yachts than this, and usually built from steel and aluminium, so this is quite a departure for them. Personally I believe there is a strong market for this kind of product though, and I hope it will be very successful for them. 3 Benetti Superyachts you may never have heard of Anybody who has visited Benetti Yachts' production facility in Livorno can not fail but to be impressed by their mammoth capacity and incredible turnover of sizeable yachts. To keep such an organisation on top of it's game requires a constant research for new products and a keen eye on market trends. Benetti have certainly succeeded in regularly presenting the market with new models that have been proven to be popular by the numbers in which they sell. This video presents three of their most recent models, that you may not have heard of yet.

Cantiere delle Marche 111' Explorer Yacht Walk Through Video It's hard to believe that Cantiere delle Marche are still a relatively new shipyard. In less than a decade they have dominated the market for high quality explorer yachts in the 80' - 120' segment, developing a reputation for outstanding quality, superb engineering, and a total commitment to customer satisfaction. I have wanted to video one of their yachts for a long time, so when the opportunity to produce a video of the 111' "Hyhma" presented itself I jumped at the chance, even though the yacht is not for sale at the moment. It is impossible to tell the story of "Hyhma" though without also referencing the shipyard that built her. This video opens the window on both the yacht?and the yacht builder. Many Italian shipyards claim to achieve the same excellence as their Northern European counterparts, Cantiere delle Marche never make such claims...they just let their yachts speak on their behalf.

I was recently invited to ICON yachts' shipyard in Holland along with some of my peers to take a look at their facilities and see what work they have under way. It was a wonderful experience, we raced 100 year old sailing boats and also got to see some pretty impressive yachts under construction. ICON were keen to ensure that we took as much away as possible from the trip, and I hope that this video will give you an opportunity to share in some of that information too.

Fincantieri have built their name and reputation by constructing outrageously large yachts, such as the 134m "Serene", and 140m "Ocean Victory". Recently though they announced a range of yachts stretching from a modest 66m in length through to "just" 99m. In my opinion this is a very smart strategic move from a yacht builder that is unquestionably capable of tackling projects of almost any size. I have a soft spot for Turkey and for the Turkish people, undoubtedly some of the most warm and hospitable folk I have ever met. The acquisition of Turquoise Yachts by the owner of OceAnco breathed new life into the company.
