A family owned company with a strong yacht building heritage they have recently released plans for a new explorer line of yachts. Dutch yacht builders have the reputation for producing some of the finest quality in the world, but usually only shipyards building huge vessels such as Feadship or OceanCo get mentioned. Van der Valk is a company that builds slightly smaller vessels that do not garner the attention of their larger copatriots but are nonetheless focussed on offering outstanding quality. When my surveyor friend Keith Willis featured the Carbon Delta 88 yacht on his Instagram page I was intrigued. I knew that there was a rich yacht building history in the United States, but had never really studied the subject. From the spectacular picnic boats built by Hinckley to the wonderful runabouts produced by Chris Craft and sensational hand built vessels that Brooklin Boatyard turn out, the one thing these boats have in common is an exemplary attention to detail. Aston Martin Hits the Water with the AM37! When Aston Martin decided to enter the world of powerboats they did not go at it by half measure.
