Care must be taken crossing the Wide Bay Bar at the southern end of Fraser Island. There are directional lights on both Fraser Island and Inskip Point which guide craft across the bar. Don’t let their cute eyes fool you! The peacock mantis #shrimp has one of the most powerful punches in the animal kingdom. Its club-like appendages can strike with the speed of a bullet, reaching up to 23 metres per second (about 50 miles per hour). This punch is so forceful that it can break through the shells of #crabs, #clams, and even aquarium glass.
