While I’ve been away visiting Japan’s longevity hotspots and gathering field notes for my book, Wahine has been quietly waiting at the dock. But apparently not alone. Some local visitors decided to make themselves at home, so on this trip away, I’ve recruited a new crew member to keep watch — 24/7. It’s not the most experienced sailor… but it does a good job keeping the crows away. Life aboard Wahine, my floating writing base, while exploring what Japan can teach us about longevity and community. #JapanSolo #BoatLife #SailingLife #Longevity #FieldNotes #JapanLife #community
The Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter type has long been held in the highest of esteem as the perfect all round sailing vessel, and ALPHA completely fits that billing. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/479/ALPHA Call Barney Sandeman: +44 (0)1202 330077 ALPHA's long and interesting life has been guaranteed to last many more years after a restoration undertaken by and under the supervision of some of the best possible practitioners of their craft, for owners who really knew what they wanted based on long experience under sail, and an intense two seasons of intimacy with ALPHA as purchased and pre-restoration. Independent of all the superb craftsmanship, the key element that has been restored in ALPHA is her ability from birth as a superbly easily handled vessel under sail and power by just two people, whilst offering the most comfortable of accommodation for long periods with plenty of space for friends.
I have missed my friends 😍 8 DAYS until we are back on a boat!!! . . To answer the comments that are more than likely going to follow this video: Would I recommend you bringing a cooler of fish to filet at a public beach… NO… do I think it’s a good idea to filet fish off your boat (home) and then jump in to salt water shower… no.. What is the best solution to where to drop your fish carcass after you have done all the cleaning so you don’t attract sharks to the wrong place?? Probably out in the middle of the ocean, but that is not always practical. This is a known spot to clean your catch after a day of spearing, we were not the first and certainly will not be the last to drop a fish carcass off this beach. Do we LOVE sharks and think they are just to coolest? ABSOLUTELY that’s why we like to film them. Do we want to put people in harms way because of our actions? No, that is why we pick where we clean our fish very carefully and are aware of our surroundings. We do our best people. 🥰❤️#tulasendlesssummer #boatlife #sharks
This chapter of my life has come to an end, so I feel it's only right to close this channel. Thank you for the countless positive feedback, messages, and encouragement I’ve received over the years, and for supporting this journey. And last but not least, although our paths have permanently separated with Kinga and Vera, I thank them for being with me through the most beautiful and most difficult moments of the journey. I’ve collected a life-defining experience aboard Irreversible, which has often come to mind even during my everyday life. This is what gave me the strength to set off once again. You can find my new adventures at the links below. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
