Gibraltar is BY FAR, one of the MOST INTERESTING places we've ever sailed to. Inside and around the Rock of Gibraltar are so many historic war tunnels, that it's almost impossible not to feel captured by the spirit of adventure. One of the best places we visited was the Northern Defences, a series of World War and 1700s military tunnels and ruins that speak to the history of this small but proud British territory. In the process of being cleaned up and restored, we visited at a time when it was free and almost deserted, making it an experience we'll never forget. To race around the world alone non-stop is pretty special and those that succeed enter an elite club. But when it comes to lapping the planet against the prevailing winds and currents, non-stop and alone the list stops way short of double figures. Last Christmas, solo sailor Guirec Soudée left France to set a new record and add his name to the gang, but his campaign took a very different approach. Instead of choosing a sturdy metal hulled monohull, Soudée and his team decided to take on the world in reverse with a fragile Ultim trimaran.
