Gibraltar is BY FAR, one of the MOST INTERESTING places we've ever sailed to. Inside and around the Rock of Gibraltar are so many historic war tunnels, that it's almost impossible not to feel captured by the spirit of adventure. One of the best places we visited was the Northern Defences, a series of World War and 1700s military tunnels and ruins that speak to the history of this small but proud British territory. In the process of being cleaned up and restored, we visited at a time when it was free and almost deserted, making it an experience we'll never forget. If you're visiting Gibraltar or even travelling around Spain, I highly recommend you see what the Rock of Gibraltar and Northern Defences has in store! 👉 SUPPORT THE PRODUCTION Tip jar: https://buy.stripe.com/6oE8A1d9Yabj4OA9AB ⛵ Gain access to our member only area: https://www.travelsketchsailing.com/join-in After backpacking Asia, road tripping Europe and doing a bit of van life, we’re now exploring the world aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. A Humpback whale sings then breaches close enough for Nicole to feel the splash! Nicole filmed this while swimming in the open ocean near Moorea, French Polynesia (by Tahiti). Nothing to do with sailing but too good not to share with you right away... By the way, we were being guided by a whale expert who ensured we did not impact the whale in any way. Before this encounter we swam some distance away from a boat that was drifting with it's engine off, then allowed the whale to approach us (or not) on his own terms.
