It's been announced that the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is in Trinidad and Tobago this week for coordinated operations with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, explaining the helicopters flying over Chaguaramas yesterday. One of the listed locations for the exercises is Teteron Barracks, a military Trinidadian base right near the shipyards where many foreign sailing vessels are stored, including ours. For context, this area is located approximately 13.5 miles from Venezuela. The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain said the training is aimed at tackling transnational threats, strengthening regional stability, and improving disaster-response capabilities. Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force officials added that the exercises support their efforts to reduce the flow of guns and drugs into Trinidad and Tobago.

Essenza - the meaning of the journey The journey of a couple - John Pott and Manuela Visani - respectively Australian and Italian, in the construction of their catamaran Essenza. Living an alternative life in North Queensland, in the town of Bowen, at the top of the Whitsundays Islands, the married couple shares their experience in the building process of Essenza while also working and slowing down to the simple things in life in the beautiful area of the Great Barrier Reef.
