One of the listed locations for the exercises is Teteron Barracks, a military Trinidadian base right near the shipyards where many foreign sailing vessels are stored, including ours. For context, this area is located approximately 13.5 miles from Venezuela. The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain said the training is aimed at tackling transnational threats, strengthening regional stability, and improving disaster-response capabilities. Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force officials added that the exercises support their efforts to reduce the flow of guns and drugs into Trinidad and Tobago.
