On Sunday, 9 October 2016 racing was cancelled at Royals as gale force northerlies caused damage around Melbourne and the RYCV Marina. Winds of up to 46kts gusting to almost 60kts were recorded at Fawkner Beacon and peaked around 2.00pm, which resulted in several mooring lines letting go as yachts lurched around in the wind and up to one metre waves that lashed against the marina. We've finally made it to the Exumas. We left Morgans Bluff and made our way 78nm to Normans Cay in about 14 hours. The first 8 hours we motored but then the wind started to cooperate and we sailed the rest of the way from essentially the east-end of New Providence down to Normans Cay.

While anchored in Gulfport Florida we got caught up in some really harsh weather but these particular 3 days where crazy! 35 knots sustained with over 40 knot gusts. Anchor held like a charm. 180 feet of 5/16 bbb chain with 1" nylon behind that with a 100 foot 5/8 nylon snubber.
