On Sunday, 9 October 2016 racing was cancelled at Royals as gale force northerlies caused damage around Melbourne and the RYCV Marina. Winds of up to 46kts gusting to almost 60kts were recorded at Fawkner Beacon and peaked around 2.00pm, which resulted in several mooring lines letting go as yachts lurched around in the wind and up to one metre waves that lashed against the marina. This week we skipped our weekly video as we have been busy with home renovations and simply lack of sailing. However, we never miss an opportunity to embrace natures beauty, this time in the form of a common dolphin family swimming by our anchorage. Two of the four adults had younglings with them, who they seem to be teaching. Pretty cool to spot them by your front door ! Nature is awesome and nature needs us as much as we need it ! Perhaps modern technology will and already is able to show us the incredible similarities we all share, the complex social behaviours and interactions, the meaning of family and so much more :) Ps. Day 2 on our Atlantic Crossing. We had very relaxed conditions and were able to unpack our spinnaker again. It's really impressive, especially when there are also some dolphins around 🌊 And we were also rewarded with a bonito, which we used straight away as sushi. Delicious 😋 And it was even so relaxed that we were able to play games.
