Living on a sailboat, we come across the authorities far more often than you might expect! In the Mediterranean we experienced the Algerian and Croatian navy (Algerian was super stressful!!), and the Italian financial police, but Trinidad is the first time we've been stopped by the coast guard. It was late at night, around midnight, when we saw their blue flashing lights come at us as we motored through the First Bocas, returning to Trinidad after months sailing up and down the Caribbean island chain. Toni and I set sail with our son, Ben, and our 4 grand kids for the first time on Moments in Time. It was nice weather with low winds and no chop.
