Built in 1916 as a herring drifter, Iris has been transformed into a comfortable charter vessel exploring the Baltic Sea. Her traditional ketch rig, sturdy steel hull and nine sails make her the perfect boat for experiencing authentic tall ship sailing in Scandinavia. Owned and skippered by sailing couple Jans and Liv, Iris offers a relaxed and welcoming introduction to life aboard a traditionally rigged sailing ship. Guests are encouraged to get involved with all aspects of sailing, from hoisting the sails and taking the helm to learning basic navigation and rope work. No previous sailing experience is needed. During the summer, Iris sails along the Swedish coast and Danish islands, visiting remote anchorages, coastal towns and harder-to-reach destinations best explored by boat. From coastal sailing and offshore adventures to tall ship racing and taster trips, there are plenty of ways to experience the Baltic Sea from the water. Life aboard Iris is comfortable, relaxed and sociable. She accommodates up to 12 guests across six twin cabins, with generous communal spaces, a large saloon, dining area and plenty of room to relax on deck. During our visit, we were able to see for ourselves what you get on the water with platform measuring 1,500 square feet (139.5 m²), a surface area almost 20% larger than is offered by the competition. The integral deck instead of a trampoline is able to offer both a forward cockpit and a real beach club area at the stern - connected to a hydraulic platform - but also optimal rigidity. To keep weight under control, the yard has used Catana technology, implementing carbon structural bulkheads. While the overall design remains in keeping with the Bali style, the coachroof is slightly larger, with narrower side decks. On board, you’ll find the opening forward door, the saloon-cockpit (a true Bali signature) and the famous tilting aft door. The galley, chart table/desk and cabins (of which there are anywhere from 3 to 6, depending on the version) are all designed in an XXL spirit that should satisfy the most demanding owners in terms of comfort.
