Sailing 800 miles upwind to the Caribbean might have been our best passage ever! Normally right on the nose we had a light wind close reach/close hauled passage just before Christmas when we sailed from the Bahamas direct to St Martin. We finally get hold and jump in our tender Rocco while the other single hands SV Panda, our 1980 Amel Sharki ketch rigged sailing machine. We purposefully reefed down quite a bit just to keep boat speeds down in the 18kts of wind.
