We’ve just crossed the Atlantic — but the next leg might be even more dangerous. Between Cádiz and Gibraltar, orca whales have been attacking sailboats… and we’re heading straight through their territory. Our plan: stay close to shore, dodge fishing nets, and hope the orcas don’t find us. Then we’ll face the Strait of Gibraltar — one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world — where massive tankers and ferries surround our tiny sailboat. Living in a Trinidad shipyard for over a year many of the friends we've made either work in the area or are into boating or sailing. One Trini friend was heading out for a lime DDI and kindly invited us to come along - our final destination was my favourite getaway, Chacachacare! He has a small monohull sailboat that's great for Caribbean island hopping. With our catamaran having been stuck on land for over 14 months undergoing warranty repairs it felt so good to get out on the water, put a sail up and go where the wind takes us!
