We’ve just crossed the Atlantic — but the next leg might be even more dangerous. Between Cádiz and Gibraltar, orca whales have been attacking sailboats… and we’re heading straight through their territory. Our plan: stay close to shore, dodge fishing nets, and hope the orcas don’t find us. Then we’ll face the Strait of Gibraltar — one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world — where massive tankers and ferries surround our tiny sailboat. After a wonderful 4 months, the Mira crew is off to Cape Town for about a week and then we cross the Atlantic! It is so bittersweet; we have made so many friends here that we will miss dearly, BUT that is one of the downsides to our new life.
