Welcome to Kalos! We encountered two Orcas as we sailed with one dog and 5 crew 900 nautical miles down the coast of Baja California over an 18 day period. Tisha spotted the black dorsal fin and we all were in disbelief as the first one was swimming upside down right towards our port beam only to submerge at the last second just missing our keel. The second one split off and went for our rudder but luckily they both left us alone after this brief but frightening yet amazing experience! Well done to all who were involved in returning this beautiful classic sailing yacht to its former glory. The following series captures the extensive restoration of Brynhilde, a 1958 Fred Parker 10-metre wooden Bermudian sloop, who arrived here at Berthon on the 4th October 2019. She has been in her present family’s ownership for the past 40 years, competing in the Hill Robinson sponsored regattas in the south of France for over a decade, and most recently sailed at the 2021 Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe. Arriving for a deck replacement but undergoing broad further works, Brynhilde is a beautiful example of a timeless yacht refitted to an incredibly high standard. Traditional skills were used throughout this project.
