For centuries sailors have navigated their way across the oceans by celestial navigation or nautical astronomy - using a sextant with the sun, moon, planets, and stars. For the modern sailor, it is essential when crossing oceans as back up to the modern and much relied upon electronic navigation. If you are curious about how to use a sextant or have taken the RYA Yachtmaster or Ocean Theory courses, or are even self-taught, our celestial sailing weekends are ideal offering both an introduction and a refresher. All are welcome. A big advantage is that you learn in a small group, under the supervision of an expert instructor. The weekends involve sailing along the south side of the Isle of Wight and back up through the Needles. A beautiful area to sail whilst offering ample opportunity to practice using the sextant. Video showing the Seaway 25 3/4 ounce symmetrical spinnaker. This is an original but very lightly used Supreme Sail. Interestingly the Farr 7500 Spinnaker is of similar size as is the J24. We also discovered the number three headsail on the Seaway 25 is the same size as a Soling headsail too. Useful if you have a Seaway 25 and need to source some sails. #seaway25 #seawaysails #spinnaker #trailableyacht #farr7500

Hello, sailors. That's a wrap for Monday Marina 2024. Before we dock and move to other marinas, let's finish with the island of La Palma, where the stars meet the sea. https://seatv.world/location/canary-islands-spain/docking/la-palma-marina-santa-cruz Nestled in the western Canaries, this marina offers more than shelter from Atlantic swells. Its 180 berths are protected by a stunning 14-meter steel gate. Picture yourself here: by day, exploring cobblestone streets and volcanic landscapes; by night, gazing at one of the clearest skies in the world. They don't call La Palma the 'Beautiful Island' for nothing. From the dramatic Caldera de Taburiente to the astronomical wonders at Roque de los Muchachos, every sailor's story becomes part of something greater. As we sail into 2025, let this enchanting island remind us that the best adventures combine sea and stars, history and horizon, comfort and discovery. Explore more of La Palma's wonders at SeaTV.world for our complete visual guide. Here's to new horizons and endless possibilities in 2025! May your compass always point to adventure and your anchor find peaceful harbours. I look forward to seeing you next year for more marina discoveries! #shorts #sailingchannel #canaryislands
