For centuries sailors have navigated their way across the oceans by celestial navigation or nautical astronomy - using a sextant with the sun, moon, planets, and stars. For the modern sailor, it is essential when crossing oceans as back up to the modern and much relied upon electronic navigation. If you are curious about how to use a sextant or have taken the RYA Yachtmaster or Ocean Theory courses, or are even self-taught, our celestial sailing weekends are ideal offering both an introduction and a refresher. All are welcome. A big advantage is that you learn in a small group, under the supervision of an expert instructor. The weekends involve sailing along the south side of the Isle of Wight and back up through the Needles. A beautiful area to sail whilst offering ample opportunity to practice using the sextant. During our Guys Weeks we sail to St Martin, St Barth’s, Anguilla, Antigua, and many other Caribbean islands. After Covid, however, we sometimes don’t know what we’ll find. This is the first time we’ve returned to St Kitts. We were disappointed to find that our favorite beach bar is closed however the sail and surrounding view made up for it! Become a sailing captain for a week! Join us on a Guys Week. We have three spots still available this sailing season. The team at ProJekt Boatworks is very excited to announce their latest new design, the ProJekt M-53. This exciting new Bakewell-White monohull design boasts a fiercely robust aluminum hull, deck, and cabin. Resin-infused carbon fibre is used to produce the strong but lightweight hardtop, mezzanine cabinet, and leaning post. The specialized composite components reduce the overall weight without compromising the strength and integrity of a well-engineered aluminum yacht.
