GETTING OFF-GRID Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. So self-reliance and sustainable living are a must. We've learned heaps about renewable energy, managing waste, creating safe drinking water and foraging for food. We carefully manage our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so. TALKING TO STRANGERS People are busy (even on remote islands) and travelers are a dime a dozen. It takes time to talk to strangers, and even more time to have a real connection. Going the extra mile to get to know someone is a commitment. Which is why these are our most treasured experiences. Setting off into the world with curiosity as our guide and nature as our compass. We talk to strangers and accept hospitality without fear or reservations. Both giving and receiving. Apriamo gli occhi. “Cavolo che dormita, ma che ora è?” Allungo una mano in cerca del telefono. Prendo di tutto sul comodino tranne che il telefono. “Qui bisogna riordinare.” Eccolo. Tocco lo schermo con un dito. 09:57. “Cosa?” Beh. È sabato. La notte scorsa l’abbiamo dormita a metà. È giusto così! “Quant’è che non dormivamo fino a così tardi?” Ci alziamo e facciamo una colazione bella ricca. Yogurt muesli e frutta fresca. Che bontà!! La mattina passa rapida in sistemazioni a bordo, puliamo e mettiamo in ordine. Tutto! Da poppa a prua. Una volta finito il “lavoro” di casa, mettiamo giù il gommone e andiamo a fare due passi in centro. Mangiamo un boccone e poi vediamo un centro commerciale vicino a noi. “Quant’è che non facciamo due passi in un centro commerciale?” Andiamo! Trovo finalmente qualcosa che mi piace. Dovete sapere che ho un “problema” con gli acquisti compulsivi. Passeggio per negozi. Vedo qualcosa che mi piace, lo provo. E trovo sempre un motivo per non prenderlo. Finché qualcosa non mi piace al punto da dire “cavolo, questo sì!” Lo ripongo. Oggi entriamo in un negozio di occhiali. Ne provo un bel po’ finché non trovo un paio che rispecchia molto quello che cercavo. “Va bene, prendiamo questi!” Diciamo alla commessa, incredibilmente italiana. - che strano parlare italiano in un negozio! Prendiamo il gommone e torniamo in barca. “Ci sarà ancora?” Ogni volta che la lasciamo all’ancora il pensiero passa per la mente, non mi sono ancora per nulla abituato, ma ci sono miglioramenti! Vediamo i proprietari del first uguale al nostro e andiamo a scambiare quattro chiacchiere. E pensare che loro non sanno nulla di tutto ciò che abbiamo vissuto, e noi di loro! Oggi è la giornata delle domande. “Quanto tempo è passato dall’unico e ultimo incontro?” Si conta, con le dita, come capita di fare quando i numeri sembrano scorrerti dalla memoria. 6 avanza Cami impulsivamente. No, 9. 9 mesi da quella volta in cui ci fermammo qui per qualche giorno. Senza dissalatore, con solo 2 pannelli solari anziché 4, senza AIS, senza EcoFlow, senza nuovo auotpilota, ma soprattutto, SENZA DUE OCEANI. Wow♥️ Andrea
