After sailing from the Turks and Caicos we sought refuge in Ocean World Marina for the hurricane season. We knocked out a lot of boat projects including one that happened during our stay at the marina before setting off to Samana and the Puerto Rico! Check out the full episode on our experience in the DR and doing the Mona Passage.

🪢 Sunday Boat Tip [26/52] 🪢 Are you team upwind or team downwind? Linnea was our first boat with a furling headsail and the natural way for us was to head upwind. It was always a hard job, and Marcus was the only one with enough strength to be able to furl it in even though we only had a small self-tacking jib. But then we got this advice and it was a game changer! The idea seems pretty obvious now, but we had just never considered it! Now handling the furler is an easy job, that we both can manage. Hope this will be of use for your boatlife too 🫶🏼 Don’t forget to save this post and share it with a friend who needs to see this to get inspired to create their own adventure 🫶🏼

The crew of Global Surveyor arrives at the fishing port of Essaouira while the Global Surveyor waits at the anchorage. The fragrance of fresh fish mixed with the cold air greets you as soon as you arrive at the port of Essaouira. The innumerable blue tawlers and fishing boats are the second thing. Essaouira is a well-liked tourist destination with an intriguing and noteworthy past that is a must-see. @gowestsailing

We made a 7sqm screecher for our 14ft plywood Zeta trimaran and tried it today. As you can see from the mirror like surface there wasn't much wind! It was all a lash up, I have no cleats for mainsheet or screecher so had to handhold everything. But it sailed well and tacked easily. You can build your own Zeta trimaran from 7 sheets of ply in 150 hours. The boat weighs 73kgs, 160lbs, ex rig.
