Joe Woods and Red were having a good regatta on San Francisco Bay, when one small error, a round up while setting the chute in Race 6 of the 2010 Melges Worlds, led to disaster. Red continued on immediately after the crash but retired when damage to the boat and an injured crewman made continuing to race unsustainable. Introducing the LMF 22 which was launched at the beginning of the summer for buoy and waterway maintenance operations in the lakes of Maine. Despite it's relatively small size, the boat routinely carries a cargo of 2500lbs consisting of buoys, anchors, and chain. The buoys and gear are worked via a davit at the side hull cutout. A bow thruster was also installed to help keep the boat on station.
