Joe Woods and Red were having a good regatta on San Francisco Bay, when one small error, a round up while setting the chute in Race 6 of the 2010 Melges Worlds, led to disaster. Red continued on immediately after the crash but retired when damage to the boat and an injured crewman made continuing to race unsustainable. At the time of her launch she was the largest performance sailing Catamaran ever built. In 2009 NECKER BELLE completed a two-year major refit in Australia. Her interior received a complete interior build-out with the addition of a fourth stateroom and the exterior upper deck was modified to achieve more deck space. Many other improvements have been made over the last few years including the installation of two brand new Caterpillar C7 main engines in 2014.
