🪢 Sunday Boat Tip [26/52] 🪢 Are you team upwind or team downwind? Linnea was our first boat with a furling headsail and the natural way for us was to head upwind. It was always a hard job, and Marcus was the only one with enough strength to be able to furl it in even though we only had a small self-tacking jib. But then we got this advice and it was a game changer! The idea seems pretty obvious now, but we had just never considered it! Now handling the furler is an easy job, that we both can manage. Tie it in the centre of a line when you need a loop and you can't easily get to either end. 🔸 It makes a good hoist if you have to lower or raise someone, with one loop the seat and the other under the armpits and around the chest. The loops should not slip and it shouldn't jam after strain. 🔸 With a doubled up rope, make a small overhand loop as you would in a Bowline.
