Weatherly was designed specifically for single-handed sailing and achieved the highest speed possible from a 65-foot boat. To meet these ambitious targets, this deep-draught boat has a displacement of just eighteen tonnes – equivalent to that of a Volvo 60! No option was left unexplored in the effort to keep the boat as lightweight as possible, and she was built in West epoxy with carbon spars, 3DL sails and a carbon rudder.

We watched as Sir Ben Ainslie's racing machine was hoisted out and packed away for the night. Sorry for any loss of video quality, all shot through the thick tinted windows of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
