In this episode, we set sail for England and the 100th Fastnet. After having the rig out, I have to slowly rebuild everything, but that suits my style of slowly warming the boat back up to full opera

When the seas make navigation difficult and fatigue causes confusion, we search for beacons of light to help guide our way. We welcome these beacons of light as they bring us comfort and remind us that all will be well. They allow us to reset our course. When we put them abeam, we slow down and make a Moment in Time to remind ourselves of all those that have gone before us and all those that will follow behind. These are the most familiar beacons for Toni and I. How many are familiar to you? Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! After over a year and three black water tanks later, we now have a non leaking black water tank in the starboard forward head. This could double the time between pump outs. Now guests can have their own head area. Thanks to Seawind and Sailaway Catamarans for coordinating this warranty work. We are getting close to starting our sailing season, albeit, a tad late. We hope to see everyone out there soon. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! The dinghy or tender is a separate boat from the mothership. The purpose is to reprovision, explore and adventure ashore. You need gear dedicated to the dinghy. We should be able to drop the dinghy in the water and go exploring rather than transferring gear back and forth from the mother ship. One of the selling points of the UP340 is having the storage to securely store all the dedicated gear. Otherwise the gear will lie strewed upon the floor posing tripping and ankle twisting hazards. Everything needs a place to stow. Subscribe and share the adventure! Plan is a four-letter word, despite creating the best laid out plan, it can sometimes get "F"ed up. This is why having an agenda is bad. The best we can do is roll with the waves and adjust. Hopefully everything will come together and the adventure can begin. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! There was so much happening at the 2025 Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show that did not make it into the previous episode. While I was talking to various interested sailors, Monica took the camera and filmed tours of the Vision 444, the Fountaine Pajot Tanna 47, and the Excess 14. For everyone that loves a particular boat or layout, there is someone else out there that might hate it. Know what you can handle, know what you like, know what you can afford, do your research, and take the opinions of others with a grain of salt. I will try to keep my mouth shut, as I already have the perfect boat, at least for Toni and I. Oops, did I type that out loud? ? Subscribe and share the adventure! We mounted the outboard motor and made the necessary modifications required to splash our UP340 dinghy. It is unlucky to launch any boat without its name. I rocked the motor back and forth to verify that cosmetic crack in the transom. Why can't things just be easy. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! "Moments in Time" returned to the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show and Ego Alley where she represented the Seawind 1260 for Sail Away Catamarans. The boat show was very well attended despite some thunder storms that rolled through. Pussers is now closed so Iron Rooster has become the new boat show breakfast tradition with a fine selection of Eggs Benedict. We filmed tours of the Seawind 1600, Seawind 1260, and the Dragonfly 28. We checked vendor wares and purchased the Nomad air breathing system for work under the hulls, and maybe for lobster hunting. We enjoyed visiting with the many friends, dreamers, and those on the edge of taking their final step towards adventure. Subscribe and share the adventure! "Moments in Time" was back at the Annapolis Spring Sailboat show and was rafted in Ego Alley with a new Seawind 1600. The Seawinds were the first boats the spectators saw as they entered the docks. Many dreamers, friends, and potential buyers visited "Moments in Time". Seawind catamarans are made for sailing and adventure. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. We had an opportunity to complete the final warranty work for "Moments in Time" and display Moments in Time in the 2025 Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show. Sail Away Catamarans wanted to prepare her before the boat show but I was still working. However, Admiral Toni has retired so she accompanied Captain Dave and Captain Jack aboard "Moments in Time" north to Liberty Marina. It was very hard for Skipper Pete to watch "Moments in Time" depart from the dock while remaining on shore. Admiral Toni filmed B-Roll video along the way. Kickback and enjoy this mostly B-Roll video of the voyage. Fun Fact: Captain Dave was there when "Moments in Time" was unloaded from Marco Polo and assisted the unpacking and making her sea worthy. It has been almost a year since we took possession of "Moments in Time", our Seawind 1260. Admiral Toni is retired but Skipper Pete is not. Toni accompanied a couple of seasoned captains sent from Sail Away Catamarans to take "Moments in Time" to Liberty Marina to complete the last (we hope) of the warranty work and to prep her for the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show. It was hard watching her sail away with me on shore, a feeling I hope not to repeat. Join us at the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show on April 25-27, 2025 and make sure to say hi. Long before "Moments in Time" was completed and shipped, Toni and I researched our dinghy/tender options. We wanted a lightweight, load carrying, and stable dinghy that would serve all of our needs, a pickup type of dinghy if you will. After some production delays and a redesign, our UP340 was finally completed and shipped. Join us as we unwrap and explore the UP340 for the first time and share our initial thoughts. There is still much to do. Subscribe and share the adventure! It has been well over a year since ordering our UP 340. We did a lot of research around dinghies and chose the UP 340 from Ultra-Light Performance Boats. We hope we chose wisely. It took some logistics to get the UP 340 in our driveway. The journey is not over yet. Stay tuned. From the day we stepped aboard "Moments in Time", this main door latch on the cockpit/saloon door seems to pop off at the most inconvenient times. The other day was the last straw, it was me or the door latch, so I conjured up a solution and with Toni filming the exorcism, we began the process. It was tough, it was hard, it required power tools, but in the end, I believe the demons were exercised from that door latch and have departed our reality. To be safe, we blessed the latch with some purple thread lock. Only eternity will tell. Subscribe and share the adventure! Who has not dreamed of living off-grid. Toni and I with our Seawind Catamaran thought this might be achievable, with our water maker, 1600 watts of solar, fishing skills and the like. But are we really ever off-grid, AIS tattling your course and speed, smart phones and smart watches lighting up the airwaves, cell towers pinging your location with every text message, and now eyes in space. I guess we could simply turn everything off, but then how will they find us if we are ever in distress? Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! Toni and I could only afford one extra sail when we ordered "Moments in Time". We chose the "Screecher" over a Spinnaker as we believed the "Screecher" would be a much more versatile sail for sailing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. It is the perfect sail for sailing in light winds where there is frequent tacking and jibing in between the rivers and narrow channels of the bay, and because as we know, the winds only tend to blow in the direction you want to go. We wanted it rigged on a single furling system on the bow sprit so it could be easy to handle by Toni and I from the cockpit. Once rigged on the furling system, it becomes a simple matter of deploying. We have made some tweaks using additional snatch blocks since this video. Surprisingly there were not many videos on how to rig a "Screecher" on a continuous furling system. I hope this helps others. Subscribe and share the adventure! Even though we have cameras onboard Moments in Time to keep an eye on everything from home, we usually will drive down and check on her at least once a week. Our checks usually takes us about 15 minutes and then Toni and I will use our presence in Solomons to get a nice lunch or dinner. Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Boat chores are part of boat ownership, you can't have one without the other. There is normal boat maintenance, boat upgrades, and boat projects. Join us aboard "Moments in Time" as I think we touched on a little bit of everything over the hot summer of 2024, when the winds were not blowing. There will be more coming. It will never stop. The title of this episode comes from a tune that was stuck in my head when editing, I apologize as it will now be stuck in your head after viewing. ?. Thanks Wings. Toni and I continue our winter ritual and went to check on "Moments in Time". What in the hell were we thinking? It is cold, it is windy, and it is snowing. It is days like this that make us question our sanity. Anyway, I think we learned our lesson. Next winter we will be where the palm trees sway, the bikinis abound, and the rum is plentiful.
