Time to upgrade the anchor setup on Marisa. ⚓ In this video, I replace the old anchor chain with a new one, measure it before installation, and set everything up properly for safer anchoring. Join me for a winter solo sailing session in Northern Ireland! We start in the engine room, finishing up some maintenance by changing the alternator belt—which turned out to be a bit of a struggle. Once the engine was ready, I couldn't resist heading out to sea to test some gear. In this episode, I’m testing a remote for the autopilot kindly fixed by David from @lowcostsailor and checking the plotter. You’ll see the challenges of hoisting sails solo, dealing with snags, and performing a "chicken jibe" (tacking instead of jibing) when the gusts got too hairy. In this video I carry out a full service on my Yanmar 3JH2E boat engine aboard my sailboat, a Hunter Legend 376 What started as a simple maintenance job quickly turned into one of those typical boat days… where nothing goes exactly as planned. During this service I change the engine oil, oil filter, diesel fuel filters, and bleed the diesel system before starting the engine again. If you own a Yanmar marine diesel engine, this is a real-life look at basic maintenance you’ll eventually need to do on your boat. And yes… there are spills, frustration, and a few things going wrong along the way. Just another normal day of boat maintenance.
