🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video I show my preparation back in 2021. This is my first solo night sail. The Dutch Tourzeilers organize a night sail on the IJsselmeer—and I decide to join. It will be my very first solo night sail. Because of the northerly wind, I have to tack the entire way. I leave early from Almere and sail 54 nautical miles in total, arriving at 2:00 AM in Medemblik. The night is beautiful, the boat steady at nearly seven knots—but the final approach is intense. I struggle to see the harbor entrance and must lower the sails inside the harbor for the first time in a place I’ve never been before. It’s a night of focus, tension, trust—and deep satisfaction. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. Looking back at 2021 preparing for my circumnavigation. I’m on my way—and I’m feeling genuinely happy. In this video, I sail from Enkhuizen to Makkum, on to Terschelling and Texel, and finally back home to Marina Muiderzand, completing a 200-nautical-mile journey around North Holland. Along the way, I introduce my new onboard systems—chartplotter, wind meter, depth sounder, and autopilot—all connected and still a bit new to me. There are challenges: busy locks, strong current, trimming sails after a wake-up call, folding sails solo, grounding briefly outside the channel, and navigating traffic with large passenger ships. Each moment asks for presence, patience, and trust. After eight days on the water, I return home tired, grateful, and already looking forward to the next time. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video, I sail toward IJmuiden to head out onto the North Sea—and for the very first time, I set my spinnaker solo. With calm weather and light winds, it feels like the perfect moment to slow down and work through every step with care. From setting up the spinnaker pole and repacking the sail, to tidying the cockpit, hoisting, troubleshooting, and finally sailing under spinnaker, this is a hands-on learning moment. Things don’t go perfectly—but that’s exactly the point. It’s an honest look at learning something new alone at sea: staying calm, solving small problems, asking questions, and enjoying the pure joy when everything finally comes together. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. I leave Muiderzand knowing this won’t be an easy sail. Twenty-five miles to Enkhuizen doesn’t sound like much, but the forecast is 27–30 knots, increasing—and this is a new boat. I’m sailing alone, and that changes everything. Every decision matters more. Every sound is louder. Behind me, dark clouds build. Lightning flashes in the distance. Squalls are coming. The next day, a massive roll cloud moves in overhead. I’m safely docked, watching the raw power of nature—grateful, grounded, and exactly where I need to be. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, as my boat comes out of the water at Marina Muiderzand in Almere, on the shores of the IJsselmeer. This moment marks the very beginning of the practical preparations for my solo circumnavigation, planned for July 2023. In this video, I show the start of essential maintenance: renewing the antifouling. It may seem like a simple task, but it is the foundation of everything that follows. I also share why I chose this boat. Listening to boat experts and following my heart. This video is not just about maintenance — it’s about choosing a boat, committing to a dream, and taking the first grounded steps toward a new life at sea. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video, I look back at Episode 29 in the early preparations for my solo circumnavigation. We didn’t make it to Stavoren last night—but after 11 hours sailing upwind, Enkhuizen was enough. We slept well and woke up rested, but with even stronger headwinds ahead. With 25–30 knots of wind, sailing toward Den Helder and out onto the North Sea toward IJmuiden no longer felt wise. So we changed the plan and turned this into a different kind of weekend adventure. Instead, we head for the Marker Wadden, a unique new nature reserve in the Netherlands. To get there, we pass through the Naviduct in Enkhuizen—one of only two naviducts in the world, where cars pass under the water while boats sail above. Sometimes seamanship means knowing when to let go of the original plan. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video, I look back at Episode 28, a very early moment in the preparations for my solo circumnavigation in The Netherlands. It is April and still very cold in The Netherlands, but I cannot wait to make my miles on my new boat. The day starts at 5:30 AM, with plans and preparations for a solo tour around North Holland which means that I solosail at sea for the first time. As the wind builds beyond force 5, I choose backup and set sail together with my husband Mark. Fresh bread, strong winds, and an early departure set the tone. What follows is an 11-hour upwind sail toward Enkhuizen—locks, freighters, reefs in the mainsail, and winds up to 27 knots. A powerful reminder that at sea, plans are always written in sand. 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Join me, Jacqueline Evers, on my epic journey around the world aboard my 27-foot Grinde, Loveworkx. In this video, I look back at the very beginning of my solo circumnavigation preparations. It’s a raw and honest glimpse into the early days of preparing for a solo world voyage. This is the moment where theory meets reality. For the first time, I practice docking on my own—no crew, no safety net. What should be a simple exercise quickly turns into a lesson in presence and trust when I suddenly run into problems with the throttle. ⚓ These moments shaped not only my sailing skills, but also the inner foundation I needed for what was to come. 👉 In the next video, I leave the harbor and sail 11 nautical miles hard on the wind toward Enkhuizen. No shortcuts, no comfort—just me, Loveworkx, and the elements. Will everything work as planned? 💙 Love my videos? ❄️⛸️⛵ Today I take you to three of my absolute favourite winter places in the Netherlands: Naardermeer, Gouwzee and Marina Muiderzand in 2021. With the rare big freeze, these lakes and bays are completely covered in thick ice – something that happens less and less often. Watch families skating, children racing, long elegant strokes… and then the real spectacle: ice sailors (ijszeilers) flying across the frozen surface on their boats with metal runners, reaching incredible speeds! From the peaceful beauty of Naardermeer, to the fast ice yachts zooming over the Gouwzee, to the quiet, snowy pontoons at Marina Muiderzand – these moments feel like stepping back in time to the classic Dutch winters. Pure magic. ❄️⛸️⛵ 💙 Love my videos? 🌊 Code Red hits Marina Muiderzand! Looking back to the early start of my preparations for my circumnavigation in 2021. Wind force 8, heavy snow, and temperatures dropping to -8°C. I head out to check on Grinde Loveworkx, clear snow, install a small portable heater, and winterize everything: antifreeze in the toilet, engine, sinks, and seacocks. Watch the real struggle with frozen lines, stubborn hoses, and getting help from friends. The boat is now ready for the deep freeze! ❄️🚤 💙 Love my videos? This early adventure in of December 20202 takes me from the calm, fresh waters of the IJsselmeer to the tidal Wadden Sea for the first time with my own Grinde. Together with Mark and my friend and sailing coach Hompe, we head to Terschelling to celebrate New Year’s Eve among fellow sailors. What follows is a trip full of firsts: passing through locks into salt water, an embarrassing grounding right in front of the harbour office, festive lights on the rigs, fresh oysters from a friendly fisherman, an unexpected mast climb on Vlieland, thick fog on the way home… and above all, the incredible warmth of the sailing community. A beautiful, very chilly, always memorable journey that reminded me why I fell in love with this boat and this life. 💙 Love my videos? This is it – the very first sail on my new-to-me Grinde! I travel to Friesland to pick her up. The previous owner takes the time to walk me through the boat and explains how everything works: quirks of the rigging, the electrical system, the quirks of the BetaMarine engine, and all the little details only an owner knows. Then, together with my good friend Gwen, we sail her all the way back to my home marina in Muiderzand. The water is that deep, dark green typical of the IJsselmeer, the wind is strong and gusty, and honestly… I’m a bit nervous. It’s been a while since I last sailed a boat single-handed. Do I still remember how everything works? Reefing, trimming, docking – it all comes rushing back. Join us for this exciting, sometimes tense maiden voyage: laughing, a few small mistakes, beautiful scenery and the pure joy of finally having my own boat. Now I can start the preparations of my circumnavigation. See next videos. 💙 Love my videos? I sleep on the floor in a traditional Sasak hut with woven from bamboo, no walls, just air, and wake up to the perfect cone of Mount Rinjani glowing in the sunrise. We scooter to a stunning waterfall, watch men balance 60 kg rice sacks on their tiny bikes like it’s nothing, get a private tour of an organic farm and eat raw cacao beans straight off the cacao tree. Local women weave beautiful fabric right in front of me, we make our own lunch in a restaurant, and then the monsoon hits: in ten minutes we’re soaked to the bone, sliding through mud, laughing hysterically in the pouring rain. Back at the marina it’s pure magic: several gamelan groups playing, horses being bathed in the sea, and everyone dancing. This is the Lombok almost nobody ever sees. 💙 Love my videos? From the boat I jump on the scooter and head deep into Lombok. First stop: Bayan Beleq, the oldest mosque on the island – 300 years old, built entirely of wood, no nails. Then a 4-hour walk through endless green rice terraces to a secret waterfall. On the way we’re invited into a Sasak family home, drink coffee, talk about life, and suddenly I’m threshing rice the traditional way with a group of laughing farmers. Zero tourists, 100 % real Lombok. ⚓ Next episode (Ep. 272): Part 2 – pushing the scooter (and myself) up through the mud… will the little 125 cc survive? Watch soon! 🌋 💙 Love my videos? From Medana Bay Marina I take the taxi to Mataram to extend my Indonesian visa. While I’m here I explore the biggest mosque of Lombok: the impressive Islamic Center Mataram Hubbul Wathan. Then I visit the unique Pura Lingsar temple – a rare place where Hindus and Wetu Telu Muslims pray side by side. Two completely different worlds on one tiny island… Lombok never stops surprising me!
