We're anchored in the fishing village called Elinkine. We've been busy the past few days attending local festivities, so we decided to stay on the boat and make food. First we had to go shopping in town and then Mana put her chef's hat on. She wears it well and her food is delicious. I was out of cash, and the closest cash machine was in Cap Skirring, the popular tourist destination. Djibril, our trusty chauffeur took us there. I got cash and let Mana take me to the artisan market where I could buy her something nice. Then we went to the beach. Cap Skirring is famous for its stunning beach. And there were the local beauties sun bathing. Cows. Yes several cows hanging out nude whith no bikinis on. Quite a sight. 00:00 Intro 00:15 Mana's new look 01:01 Chef Mana 02:21 Beach road trip 04:07 African queen 05:17 Cow's beach 08:36 She got her shoes 09:56 Next week Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! Kamangnene celebrates the rice harvest in Casamance. It's when locals must welcome people at their homes and offer them food and drinks. Then in the evening folks gather in forest clearings to watch boys and men wrestles and newlyweds are presented. These are celebrations of the Diola people who live in this region of Senegal. The exact date of this annual festival is not known to anyone but the king a week before it takes place. Luck or timing for us could not have been better. Who knew about this. Not even Mana. We are well fed and drunk on palm wine. Perfect to stroll through the forest on ancient paths to the boisterous clearing. There are newlyweds and wrestlers on display. Let the music and fights begin. My beautiful guide Mana, gets us together with a family friend named Jean Philippe, he will be our guide into the rice harvest ceremonies called Kamangnene. We move to another anchorage in a fishing village called Elikin. We have been expected by the folks at Campement Villageois where we drop anchor. A great spot with food and drinks, and the very pungent aroma of fish drying a few hundred meters away. The next day are taken to gather oysters in the mangrove with two voracious Spanish chicks. Then we meet Jean Philippe at Eduard’s place where I am taught how to drink palm wine. I’m in the Kamangnene festivities where it is customary to go from one house to the other to be fed and given palm wine. We were offered some of the most wonderful meals under the shade of giant trees in the gardens of pure kindness and generosity. Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! This is how I like to experience a place I sail to. Meet a beautiful local to show you around. In this case she's Black Little Red Riding Hood. But first I test to see if Mana like being aboard Galopin to go places. So we go explore the nearby mangrove watery labyrinth. Where we are a little freaked out. Mana passed the test, Galopin likes her. We sail down river and get ambushed by a gang of dolphins. We can feel them push the boat. And we finally anchor in the dark of the night in the bend of a tributary. We’re greeted by a Frenchman who takes us to the bush bread baker. And then a settlement where we can get wifi. Even at night, Mana finds the key to the trail and leads us in her bright red dress. 00:00 Intro 00:25 She's not afraid 02:47 Friend from Dakar 03:54 Going deep down the delta 05:01 Dolphin attack 06:05 Into the bollong 06:29 Guide came knocking 07:17 Not in the city anymore 08:00 We're in the bush 09:03 Bush bread bakers 09:55 Chez Papis 11:11 Following the trail 13:37 Next week Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube!
