In this video, we share our experience of receiving a Tsunami warning while living on our catamaran off the coast of New Zealand. We heard the warning sirens blaring and were immediately faced with a potentially life-and-death decision. Despite an evacuation order, we made the quick decision to move our boat to a safer location. A magnitude 8.1 earthquake had hit the Kemadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand, triggering a Tsunami warning. We were unsure of how big the Tsunami would be, but we knew we had to act fast. The question remained, was our decision to move the boat to a safer location the right one? Following the Tsunami warning, we took a break from work to upgrade our boat and explore the northernmost part of New Zealand. Through this video, we hope to share our experience and offer some insight into how to deal with a Tsunami warning when living on a boat. Join us as we reflect on our decision and ultimately answer the question, was it the right one?
