Surprise CSSC (Civil Service Sports Council) members meet-up
So glad to have enjoyed a chance meeting with Lucy Hodges MBE, World Blind Sailing Champion, at Rutland Sailing Club (RSC) last Saturday 18 May 2024. We hadn't met before, didn't plan to, and I am so glad we did. It was Rutland Civil Service Sailing Club (RCSSC) first sailing taster session for the CSSC (Civil Service Sailing Sports Council) not Civil Service as I say on the video - Doh! I introduced myself as the Taster Events organiser for RCSSC and Lucy mentioned she was in the HMRC and a CSSC member too. What a coincidence. Always happy to say Hi to fellow CSSC members at Rutland Sailing Club (RSC) the home of RCSSC a small and friendly club, who sail keelboats: Squibs and a Soling. The other coincidence is my wife Ann, used to work for the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) for many years. We quickly swapped our 'why are you here today' stories and realised we were both keen sailors and members of CSSC. At the end of our 10 minutes chat, we agreed to do a very short video about out our serendipity meet-up. I think Lucy tells her story and promotes blind sailing, better than I can - so we made this very short video. Good to meet you Lucy, talk sailing and hope you will be able to join me for a sail at Rutland one day. Well done Rutland Sailing Club (the home club of RCSSC) for your support with the RS21's and Blind Sailing.
