We've got gypsy magic! Previously we shared the skipping of our anchor chain as the Lofrans Falkon windlass deployed/pulled up the anchor. We drove to Charleston, South Carolina and picked up the new 376E gypsy that matches our 1/2" G4 anchor chain. It was a little wider than the old gypsy which caused a slight alignment issue with the chain stripper, it guides the anchor chain into the chain pipe then down into the chain locker. Luckily, Steve was able to move the chain pipe over enough to correct the placement. Now the windlass works as smooth as butter and we are so relieved. It caused Steve to burst forth with song. It’s Monarch butterfly migration season and they can be seen all over the place. Karen dances while Steve recites a poem in honor of this beautiful occasion. On the last nighttime cruise in the Atlantic Ocean, our port navigation light on the bow stopped working, creating an extremely dangerous situation. The light has been inspected, cleaned and remounted. It is now working properly and will help us have safe nighttime voyages. The new BOATEYE360 camera will add an additional nighttime safety feature. It uses CMOS sensors to bring video to the chartplotters in very low light (0.0001 lux) conditions. We tested it out in the salon and now all we need to do is hook it up to the bow and connect it to the chartplotter. Yea! Oh wait…does that mean we have to run wires? Yes, two of them; a power cable and an HDMI cable. Dang it!!!! It will be worth the effort. Thank you for watching and joining us on SV Isabella. It has four private cabins, an engine room, salon, galley, and three heads with two separate shower stalls. The hull is fiberglass and is considered a bluewater cruiser. Isabella has an excellent capsize ratio of 1.68 and a very good comfort ratio of 42.19. She is equipped with Garmin / Raymarine electronics and has hydraulic steering. The naval architect was Michel Bigoin who also designed the largest sailboat in the world which was manufactured in 1976 and called Phocea. It was a 246-foot four masted steel schooner and was considered the largest private sailing yacht in the world until 2004.
