A powerful typhoon was approaching Amami Island, and urgent preparations were needed. My friend Mitsu suggested mooring my boat, Wahine, in the middle of Buren Bay, utilizing an anchor block from a disused pearl farm. With his help, I secured the boat to a mooring buoy in the bay's center. I then went to land and the storm intensified, I found myself watching Wahiinerepeatedly passing through the eye of the typhoon. My son Mackenzie suggested that we use flight simulator to experience ` real weather conditions, using real-time weather data to virtually fly into the storm and observe it from above. This experience underscored the importance of preparation and adaptability when facing nature's fury.
