Pole Walk :- Frosties 2018 Race 9

All those years ago Alex Thomson gave use the Keel Walk, he then followed it up with the Mast Walk. The crew on GTR Racing is proud to present the Pole Walk. With the 2018 Frosties series on Strangford Lough heading into the last day of racing it was all to play for with 3 boats still in the mix. After a good start to race 9 the crew on GTR ran into some issues with the spinnaker set, loosing the topping lift for the spinnaker pole up the mast. The team kept racing using a spare halyard as a replacement. Half way down the spinnaker run the crew decide it was best to go up the mast to retrieve the topping lift in case the halyard was required for a sail change. Robin Dunbar showed get agility and balance to walk to the middle of the spinnaker pole to reattach the topping lift. All while the crew continued to drive the boat has hard as they could. The flawless crew work kept the boat at top speed, this was key in allowing the crew on GTR to go on and win the race 9 by seconds. With Frosties Race 9 behind in the bag will GTR be able to stay in the lead after the final race of the Frosties 2018. We wish Alex Thomson every success with the last Hugo Boss IMOCA 60. We can not wait to watch him tackle the Vendee Globe and really hope that this years matching video include the foil walk !
