No More Upwind - Day 75 - Vendée Globe

"Hi everyone! It's January 24th, and today was meant to be my arrival day, 75 days at sea. But I've still got 1,317 miles to go, so it's looking like another 4-5 days depending on conditions. ? For the first time since Cape Horn, I'm finally not sailing upwind! It feels surreal after what must be the longest upwind stretch in maritime history. The sea is calmer now, the wind is a bit unstable, but I'm enjoying the change and even put on a fresh T-shirt for this update! Ahead lies the Bay of Biscay and a massive storm system. The real challenge isn't just the wind but the steep, short waves caused by the continental shelf. If conditions become too dangerous to safely reach Les Sables d'Olonne, I may need to divert to another port like Lorient.
