Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Prototype Day 68 Summary

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli continued their promising training block out in Cagliari with a flat-water day that their LEQ12 absolutely revels in. It was a day for the Flight Controllers to really run through the modes as they slowly get to grips with the V3 foil hanging off the port foil arm whilst completing A/B testing against the V1 foil on starboard that has been on since the start of the campaign albeit on different sides. Marco Gradoni is fast becoming the darling of Italian sailing and the team’s faith in him is paying handsome dividends. Could he be a helm on the AC75? That’s the question in Cup circles and day after day he does his case no harm at all with highly consistent performances that are becoming hard to ignore. If not the AC75, then for sure in this cycle, he will be a force in the AC40s and with so much time in the boat, he could be unstoppable. In interview afterwards he is the model professional with a million watt smile and he summed up the day beautifully saying: “It was pretty light and flat with some Mistral, the last days we had the lot of waves so it was a big difference from the other days, it was nice because it was super flat, quite light, and there were good manoeuvres, good day, so it's nice.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024
