iFLY Foiling Days – Auckland, New Zealand (16 Jan – 14 Feb 2026) This footage was captured during the ongoing iFLY Foiling Days on Auckland’s North Shore. The event runs through 14 February 2026, with iFLY RAZZOR Pro hydrofoil catamarans sailed in real coastal sea conditions. Coaching sessions are available. Participation and enquiries: https://iflysail.com/contact/ Heavy-Weather Foiling – iFLY RAZZOR Pro This video documents an iFLY RAZZOR Pro sailed in strong, unstable wind with a developing sea state. Short-period waves, gust fronts and uneven pressure define the session. These are not beginner conditions. The boat is configured for high wind, using a 7.5 m storm mainsail on the 8.5 m mast. The reduced sail area limits aerodynamic load while maintaining balance and foil efficiency as wind strength and surface disturbance increase. Flight Control and Setup The RAZZOR Pro shown here is equipped with active main-foil differential rake control (MDT), enabling continuous adjustment of lift and righting moment while foiling. In these conditions, rake control becomes a primary tool for maintaining stable flight attitude through gust transitions and wave interaction, rather than relying on reactive steering or sail trim alone. Context This session represents one end of the iFLY operating range. From controlled foiling in moderate conditions to demanding heavy-weather sailing, the boat’s behaviour changes with setup, environment and sailor input. This clip reflects the upper limit of that range — where precision, timing and restraint define performance. Design Perspective The iFLY RAZZOR Pro combines carbon-composite construction, a four-foil configuration with automatic and manual control layers, and a refined flight-stability concept. The session illustrates how a high-performance foiling catamaran behaves in an unmodified coastal wind-wave environment, in contrast to flat-water testing, and why such conditions require confidence, discipline and an understanding of active foil systems. Join the iFLY Foiling Days The iFLY Foiling Days 2026 offer on-water demonstrations, coaching and technical exchange with the iFLY team and experienced sailors.
