In this video, Hauling Out and Going Home - Last Video? Are We Done Cruising?, We haul Balachandra out of the water by travel lift at Green Cove Springs. The Travel lift is small so they ask us to back in and remove the backstay. (not so easy to do in 26 knots of wind!) There is no room for us in the work yard so we are forced to move Balachandra into the long term storage area where we are not permitted live or do work on the boat. We didn't realize that the storage yard closed at 4 pm and is not open on Sundays so we had to make a mad rush to offload our things into the truck and get out before they locked the gate! We set out by truck for Nova Scotia Canada and cross the Canadian border. Months back we made a chance connection with some Canadian engineers in the R&D stages of developing a new type of solar panel for sailors and cruisers and recently we did an interview and they asked us to share their survey with the cruising community to help them understand and communicate with the cruising demograhic. Please scroll down for links to the survey and complete one. In August of 2017 we sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat. After 2 fridgid Canadian winters in the North Atlantic we untied the lines and headed south to cruise in the Caribbean for another 2 years, exploring as far as Grenada. Sailing Balachandra is our YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos, La Vagabonde, Sailing Uma and Project Atticus, we document the sailing adventures of myself (Dan) and my partner Nawal as we navigate the globe. We also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros, cons, costs, essentials, trials and tribulations of living aboard a sailboat full time.
