Join us for this weeks episode as we continue our journey down the Mallorcan Coast. Sa Calobra is a sailor's answer to Jurassic Park setting, except its in the Mediterranean! Sa Calobra is a breath taking bay nestled between steep sided cliffs and a rocky gorge. The limestone rock has been carved out over thousands of years by the Torrent de Pareis, which at this time of year is running very dry, but so we've heard is an altogether different beast come Winter. It can get very busy in the Summer but for us it was super quiet and beautiful. It felt very special and peaceful?well until Walter went wild hunting for fish? We continued exploring the canyon and then headed back to the boats together, where Phil and Joe got to shift from sailors to climbers? For a little bit of context, Joe is the kind of person who can't do anything by halves. He sailed as a teen competitively competing in various dingy worlds and nationals, when he started uni he traded in sailing for climbing and that took over his life instead. Phill and Joe have done a lot of climbing together over the last ten years, a lot a lot. In fact, they climbed a 3,000 foot vertical granite wall in Yosemite in the US known as The Nose. He doesn't get to climb as much now, obviously a sea life doesn't always lend itself to excellent rock - however he'll probably always be a climber at heart? Once their arms, hands and skin were sore enough to give up, they shifted to swimmers and divers playing around in the water before we lifted anchor to head further round this awesome coastline.
