E170 - Diving The SS President Coolidge & Million Dollar Point, Santo Vanuatu
Grabbing our dive gear we explore the wreck of the SS President Coolidge off the island of Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu, a luxury liner converted into a troop carrier during World War II. We complete several dives with Chris's dive buddies from Australia flying over to join us, go to dinner by tender and watch a fire show. After being sunk by allied mine the Coolidge is regarded as one of the best wreck dives in the world. We then head just a few hundred metres away and dive Million Dollar Point. At the end of WWII the Americans built a wharf and dumped all the excess equipment into the sea. JCB diggers, cars, jeeps, forklifts and more all into the sea. The result is a mass of equipment at the bottom of the ocean which today certainly totals much more than a million dollars. We're Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. #vanuatu #seawind1260 #seawindcats #sailing #sailingboat #sailingyacht #yacht #yachting #yachtinglifestyle #cruisinglife #scubadiving #scuba #wreckdiving #santo
