A rare bloom of Luzonichthys earlei (Earle's splitfin anthias) occurred at Lehua this summer, lasting from early / mid June through the end of July. The last time this was documented was about 10 years ago. Here is a glimpse of the event from the four times we were able to get over there while this was first happening. All four of these crossings were on the Ho'okahi with Captain Tara Leota.
