31. Nantwich adventures

For a few days we stick around Nantwich, go out for lunch, trek to find drinkable water, detour through a park, and learn about Telford's Aqueduct and the notches made by horse ropes all those years ago! There's always another issue on a boat, always some problem to overcome. Today's is a leaky weed hatch. The old seal was only done just before we set out on the voyage to get the baseplate done, about 6 weeks before this video. The seal looked like it had melted which threw me a little, and I thought "surely the water coming off the prop couldn't be that hot?!". It took a little while to think through, but I suspect it was melted by either the methods used to remove the old base replate, or in the process of welding the new one on. The uxter plate (the flat bit around the prop area on the outside) was also replated, which is adjacent to the weedhatch. Another thing I didn't know would need fixing after a baseplate job.
