To get a quote for your vessel from Keane Specialty Insurance: https://keanespecialty.com/get-a-quote/ Three classic-inspired yachts. Three very different approaches to the same idea. Sanlorenzo recently launched SHE, the first model in its new Heritage line, inspired by the classic Italian yachts of the 1960s. And it got David thinking, because this is a niche that other builders have been exploring too. In this vlog, David compares three yachts of approximately 24 metres, all with a classic aesthetic and all aimed at an owner who wants something with a little more soul than the mainstream: the Sanlorenzo SHE, the Picchiotti Gentleman 24 and the Hartman Livingstone 24. At 25.5 metres, Sanlorenzo SHE is the largest of the three. Built in GRP on a modified deep-V hull, she combines a low, restrained profile inspired by the 1960s with contemporary technology. Her exterior is by Zuccon International Project, with interiors by Piero Lissoni. The Picchiotti Gentleman 24 takes a different approach. Built entirely in aluminium with mahogany across the cap rails and trim, she arguably provides the most authentic expression of the classic idea. Her exterior styling, interior design and naval architecture are all credited to Luca Dini, giving her a remarkable coherence. Then there is the Hartman Livingstone 24, built on a steel round-bilge displacement hull with an aluminium superstructure. With four cabins for up to nine guests, a practical family layout and a raised pilothouse, she was designed for long-range family cruising rather than coastal showstopping. Performance makes their different philosophies even clearer. SHE is the fastest, reaching 20 knots and offering approximately 500 nautical miles of range at 10 knots. The Gentleman 24 reaches 19 knots and increases that range to approximately 1,800 nautical miles at 9 knots. Livingstone is slower, with an 11-knot top speed, but offers approximately 3,000 nautical miles of range at 10 knots. She isn't trying to be fast—she is built for going places the other two can't reach. The three yachts also sit at different points in the market. At the time of filming, the first Picchiotti Gentleman 24 is listed at €6.9 million, with new-build pricing quoted at approximately €8.9 million. Sanlorenzo SHE is price on application, while the original Hartman Livingstone 24, launched in 2016, is available at around €3.5 million. All three deliberately look backwards for inspiration, but underneath that shared aesthetic they are pulling in very different directions. SHE offers refinement, technology, style and speed. The Gentleman 24 brings aluminium construction, mahogany detailing and classic character. Livingstone offers four cabins, 3,000 nautical miles of range, a steel hull and the soul of a proper explorer. So, what kind of owner are you? Would you choose the elegance of SHE, the character of the Gentleman 24, or the capability of Livingstone? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
