106 - Festival Pesona Budaya: A True Taste of Indonesian Culture

While it was one of our slowest sails ever, I was just thrilled that we managed not to rip the spinnaker... again! Pasar Wajo was going to be a big rally stop as we were invited to the Festival Pesona Budaya Tua Buton (Buton’s Festival of Traditional Culture). We got to witness women weaving fabric using traditional looms, babies undergoing a dole-dole ceremony to help them grow up healthy and strong, and ate a traditional Indonesian meal with locals. But the highlight of the day was the performances put on by 5,000 students. Once they were done dancing, we joined them on the field and must have taken 5,000 selfies!
